    It's been a whirlwind...

Gosh, there's so much to update about my life.  I guess I'll have to go all the way back to December of last year when I last posted.

I'm going to have to just bullet the major things...otherwise we'd both be here all night...

    • As mentioned two posts ago, I graduated from college and moved back home.
    • I worked at the GAP from December to May.  I enjoyed my time there, but I'm actually glad it's over!  I can do retail...but I need a little more set schedule (can anyone relate to retail scheduling?!?!).
    • I STUDIED ABROAD IN COSTA RICA FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE AND THEN LIVED THERE FOR THE MONTH OF JULY!!!!!  (Huge dream come true--praise God!)  I could probably go on and on about this, but I'll hold the details.  :)
    • I came back home from Costa Rica on August 3rd and received my second degree--in Spanish.
    • Within 2 weeks of being home, I was hired to work at the administrative offices of my church.
    • I've started working out about twice a week with a personal trainer to get back in shape...woo hoo!!  The other days of the week, I try to do cardio on my own.  We'll see how this goes...

So, I'm really enjoying my job...God is answering my prayers for change and growth.  Amazing how we often ask for certain things in our lives and then when they come along, we often begin to resist the very things we prayed for!  I'm not sure if anyone else has done this...but I know I have.  I work in the Member Services department.  I love that I'm surrounded by amazing people and that I get to mix my administrative and people skills.  Some days are harder than others, but I'm learning as I go along and trying to see what God wants to teach me through it all!

So who is still here on Xanga??  I've been a really bad snooper for the last, oh, ten months.  Sheesh.

P.S. You can laugh at my song choice. It's ok, I give you permission.  I just have to say that I really do like this song...so don't judge until after you've listened to it yourself.  Search "Save Me" on youtube if you have to...  :)

  • Rain...

If anyone else is in south Louisiana, you know that it is raining...of course.  I'm sitting here in the living room at home, browsing the internet and just listening to the peaceful sound of the rain outside.  I like it when it rains--at night--that way in the day I can enjoy the beautiful sky and the sun.  Alas, it must rain to water the earth.

So as I've been browsing the internet, I came across a few blogs by people I don't really know--but I have friends who know them.  As I was reading one site, at one point my heart was so touched that I just started to cry.  Not tears of sadness or tears of joy, but tears of desire--a desire to fully L I V E.  My heart cried out to the Lord, "Open my eyes that I may S E E You, open my heart the I may K N O W You."  To once again be so alive in Christ that each new day of life feels like a cold, crisp day.  Where your senses are so alive to every stimuli that everything is forever recorded in your memory.  I want to truly live, to truly love, to truly learn--to know the Lord and to make Him known.  To be ALIVE.  May the Lord rain down in my heart and wash away the dust and the filth...may He turn up the fire and burn away the dross.  That's a hard prayer to pray...but I want it.  I want to feel alive in Christ once again.  It's been too long.

And here I am still.  Sitting here.  It's raining.  And I think everyone is asleep but me and my brother.  Even my dog Gumbo is asleep on the couch across the room from me.  My cute dog Gumbo...

  • Last quarter, graduation, and Thanksgiving!

It's over.  I completed my last quarter of schooling at Louisiana Tech University .  I am "officially" a college graduate!!  WOW, 4 years and 2 months of schooling flew by so quickly.  So many memories, so many friends, so many experiences.  I'm definitely going to miss being in college...going to the cafeteria, going to the International Student Office, going to Chi Alpha, even going to class!  I now have a Bachelor of Science in Family and Child Studies and a minor in Spanish.  God has carried me through to this day.  He walked with me through the hard times when I wanted to just give up and quit trying, and He used my family (especially my mom) to encourage me along the way.  Thank you, Lord, for my beautiful momma.  You know, it's amazing to reflect on life and see that God was there all along the way and to also see that His hand was on my life throughout.  I remind myself that God is FAITHFUL--it is part of who He is and will never change.

I'm looking at going to a language school sometime in January to get 6 more hours of credit to complete a degree in Spanish.  I reeeeeally want to study somewhere in Central America!  Right now it looks like Guatemala will be the place I am studying.  I still have to talk things over with my parents and pray about it more, so we shall see.

Sooooo, all of my pictures from graduation are on my dad's computer at the moment, so I'll have to post again soon with pictures.  In the meant time, I'll leave you all with a picture of me with my 2 amazingly handsome brothers (who just so happen to be single  hint, hint.  just kidding!).  This picture is from a wedding we went to at the end of October.  Right now I'm at my grandparents' house for Thanksgiving for a few days.  I love being surrounded by family!  Hope you all have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!!

    Now for the picture....

  • Last week I went on vacation with my family (minus Paul because he had to work) :(. My mom, my dad, Jason, his friend Josh, and I went to Miramar Beach in Florida, which is right next to Destin. The vacation was QUITE relaxing -- eating out occasionally, shopping, cooking in the condo, going to the beach, watching tv, and doing whatever else we wanted to do. I got a little bit of a tan...which is good for me because I was quite white (and actually still am!). I really enjoyed getting to spend time away and relax. Below are some pictures from our adventure...

A pretty flower that was on a random bush outside of our beach cottage.

My mom and I at the beach...the sun was soooo bright so our eyes are a bit squinty!

A little friend I "met" at the beach.  He kept popping out of this hole right next to my beach towel.  :)  He's pretty cute.

My mom and I crabbing (or at least trying to) on the bayside of the beach.  I actually think I was looking at the hermit crabs attacking each other!  It was the weirdest thing...

Sitting...well falling...in the oversized chair at the Sandestin Village.

We went to eat lunch at a really good barbeque place...I must have been listening intently to what my mom was saying.

I thought this quote was really cool.

Two really cool sunset pictures from the first full day that we were there...

We really had fun on our vacation!  For the most part, I've had such a fun and relaxing summer getting to go on two vacations (Hawaii and then Destin/Miramar Beach)!  I took classes the first part of the summer, but both of them were online so they weren't too bad.  I can't believe the summer is almost over!  I'm excited about going back up to school -- this should be my last (or second to last) quarter!  I'm going to try to "journal" more often...I feel like I have a lot more I could say in this post, but I think I'll just wait...  : )
